World Series Final Game Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series averaged 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average was 16.1M. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
