Tehran Declares It May Return to US Atomic Negotiations provided that Handled with 'Respect' and 'Honor'

Iran is prepared to restart nuclear negotiations with Washington on condition that it is approached with "dignity" and "honor", Tehran's foreign minister has stated.

Abbas Araghchi stated only diplomacy produced results, and shared new appeals had been made by intermediaries to resume talks with the American leadership. He claimed Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Iran was not yet able to permit the global atomic watchdog to access struck enrichment centers for security reasons.

Walking a Complex Path

The foreign minister is treading a complex path since Iran aims to avoid appear to be acting from a situation of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen more powerful militarily and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its atomic facilities in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Earlier Discussions Suddenly Concluded

The previous five rounds of negotiations between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with Donald Trump claiming the locations had been destroyed. Afterward, Western states used their right to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Iran's diplomats said they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium. The two nations would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have persisted and the US could be confident that Iran's nuclear programme was entirely non-military.

It had not been settled in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could function within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion. Representatives stated three times they had achieved a deal with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the arrangement to disintegrate due to "opponents in the US".

Current Position

Iranian officials declared the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the offer could be reintroduced in certain ways if discussions resume.

The US president in recent days said he had been receiving messages that Iran desired to resume discussions, but confidentially Tehran representatives state they are not yet obtaining clear proposals from Washington either explicitly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as Qatar, Egypt, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been criticized of passivity in the wake of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Tehran says negotiations is not part of a show.

Negotiating Position

In his remarks to the gathering, designed to depict the US as a controlling nation that abuses the idea of international law, the foreign minister declared the two-week conflict revealed the clash could not be ended by military means. He said the assaults started with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an absolute demand for a truce.

Iran is convinced the first strikes by Israel were executed with complete American awareness and collaboration, making trust challenging to reestablish.

Diplomacy Stays the Ultimate Resolution

The foreign minister said: "Tehran was not the one that had deserted diplomacy; it was the United States and the European states that had consistently attempted to impose their demands during the negotiations. Diplomacy can still be active and stays the ultimate resolution to address disputes, but its criteria, guidelines and fundamentals must be followed."

"In case they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the tone of respect and honor, they will receive a reply in the same approach."

Recovery and Reconstruction

In what is characterized by Iran's diplomats as the battle of repair and recovery, Araghchi claimed he was confident Iran's defence capabilities "are considerably enhanced than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. All our capabilities have been rebuilt. We learned multiple understandings from this conflict; we have identified our internal vulnerabilities and the shortcomings of the opponent."

He continued: "We effectively endured this war. Our atomic expertise, which they planned to eliminate, remains in place. The installations and equipment, if damaged, will be restored; what is important is the resolve of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but failed to destroy. The Iranian people have become more resilient, more cohesive, and more supportive of the administration and the state in the face of this attack."
