Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
